Magic, Emotion, and the History of Silesia in an Extraordinary Setting
It was magical, breathtaking, and deeply moving—this is how the audience described the premiere concert "Understanding Silesia", which took place on May 26, 2024, at PreZero Arena Gliwice.
The History of Silesia Told Through Music and Multimedia
"Understanding Silesia" is a unique music and multimedia spectacle, blending the past, present, and future. A century of Upper Silesian history was brought to life through stunning visuals, music, and cutting-edge technology. The show covered key historical themes, including:
- The influence of the Three Emperors on the region
- The Three Silesian Uprisings
- The impact of two world wars and totalitarian regimes
- Economic crises and shifting borders
How can we truly understand Silesia? This production provided an answer by presenting the region’s heritage in a modern, immersive way—featuring dozens of soloists, five brass orchestras, three bands, and AI-generated visualizations.
A Remarkable Musical Performance and Star-Studded Lineup
The show featured songs deeply connected to Silesian history, performed by outstanding artists who have played a significant role in the region's cultural landscape. The event opened with 3D projections of comics from the series "Niczego sobie. Komiksy o mieście Gliwice", accompanied by music from Pasimito.
Performing on stage at Gliwice Arena were:
Karolina Czarnecka, FejzJESTM, Misia Furtak, Grubson, Joka, Kapela Fedaków, Kasia Lins, Kasia Moś, Czesław Mozil, Leszek Możdżer, Maciej Obara, Tomasz Organek, Pasimito, Krystyna Prońko, Rahim & Fokus, Piotr Rogucki, Jakub Skorupa.
They were accompanied by Silesian mining and steel orchestras from KWK Rydułtowy, KWK Marcel, KWK JasMos, KWK Sośnica, and Huta Łabędy, as well as a string quartet from the AUKSO Orchestra under the baton of Łukasz L.U.C. Rostkowski and Rebel Babel Ensemble.
Our Role in the Production of "Understanding Silesia"
Our initial responsibilities for this project included:
- Directing the show
- Lighting design and execution
- Artist coordination
- Stage management
Ultimately, we provided comprehensive production support for the organizer, Stowarzyszenie Pokolenie, ensuring the event’s seamless execution. This marks another successful collaboration with PreZero Arena Gliwice, following our work on the Eurovision concert.
